Define your web strategy!
Whether you know it or not, you have a web strategy. In other words: If you have a web site and you do not know what’s your web strategy, then you need serious help.
So, why do you need a web strategy and why should you care about web planning / strategy ?
First: What is the definition of web strategy?
A strategy is a long term plan of action designed to achieve a particular goal, such as; conversions. Strategy is differentiated from tactics, which consist of but not limited to: (SEO) Search engine optimization- , (SEM) Search engine marketing, Email campaigns, web2.0 optimization …Etc. Web Strategy is also not synonymous to immediate actions, which should be driven by a prior plan of action.
A web strategy is a plan of action devised to achieve measurable and specific results on the web. “Measurable results” require the website owner, operator, manager or master to have a specific goal (or set of goals) in mind for their web presence. The actionable plan provides a set of actions based on these goals by analyzing the web presence and data vis a vis to effectiveness and feasability.
In simple terms: Your web strategy is your plan to achieve what you consider success on the web.
Web strategy is the means and the raod that takes you to your goal. Typical organizational goals include selling more products, applications, ebooks, increasing membership/donations, or achieving greater brand or “cause” awerness.
